How Do Your Goals Support Your Dreams

It’s not a secret anymore that you are your thoughts. You can’t be more than your thoughts. Even, not more than your emotions. We as humans are built this way. We don’t recognize anything that we don’t already have within us. We subconsciously want and need to be safe, although one of the strongest human needs is to have diversity as well.

Isn’t that fascinating how our mind works?

We have different, yet so similar needs and desires at the same time. This is the reason why most of the times we have a hard time keeping our dreams alive and mostly, being focused on achieving our goals.

What if still, there’s an easy way to deal with all the emotions and to get things done, your way, at your pace? I call it “easy discipline” and this is something that you can do. I could do it, so you can do it too.

Do you feel a strange sensation in your stomach when you think about discipline? I know you do, as we all do. We got to associate discipline with pain and forcing things. However, it doesn’t need to be like this at all.

What you need to do is the following:

    – What is my next step towards what I want?

Could it be applying for a new job? Or maybe finishing a major project? Or going on a holiday to rest your mind? Only choose the next step, only one, or else you’ll get overwhelmed again. I say again, because most probably overwhelm has kept you away so far, from achieving your dreams. When there’s a lot to do and especially, when you don’t have all the data about what’s next, fear of the unknown starts kicking in without you even noticing it. Thus, mental pain happens and you feel stuck. There’s too much to handle at once and if you don’t give your mind, specific, short tasks to focus on, it can’t deal with it all.

Our mind likes it simple. Direct. As easy as possible, in order to make sure you complete that task. Only after completing that one specific task, you move on to the next one.

If you take it one step at a time, complete that, and then move to the next one, you are so much more likely, if not 100% accountable to finish what you started with enthusiasm and high quality along the way.

You can do this next step, as long as you stay present and not think about the next step that you have to do, not before finishing what you started.

See this first step as the first goal that you need to do in order to get closer to your dreams. Goals are indeed parts of the big picture, of the dreams, and they are meant to keep you focused along the way, with a certain time. Give your goal a certain date, because otherwise, you’ll end up postponing it to… forever. You don’t want to keep it too long without doing anything about it. That’s when you lose hope and the will to follow through with it.

Give your goal a week’s time. If it takes longer, you may want to break it down into smaller steps. You only need a piece of paper or your journal, where you’ll write down the very first step that you need to do. And that’s it!

Here’s to a fear-free, fulfilled professional life, full of dreams and accomplished goals!

Do you need more support? I’m more than happy to serve you.

I’ll see you soon,
