Never Ever Settle. Here’s Why

Have you found yourself in a situation that you didn’t like, but then again, you couldn’t explain to yourself how you got there? It could be at your work place or in your business. Has it happened that you were not aligned with those circumstances anymore?

Or maybe, you felt stuck in a place you never imagined you’d be? The issue causing this is: your standards. What are these standards, anyway?

They are a set of values, the most important ones for you, that you use every time you make a decision. This happens at a deep subconscious level and without the proper training, your mind is not even aware you have them there. It just runs on autopilot and making sure the checklist is ticked with your standards.

Fortunately, here’s how to spot these very important values and here’s also how to make sure you learn how to raise your standards as well. Let’s see first: why do we need to do this?

When you are not conscious of your standards, you settle for almost everything. You are not used to wanting more, because you can’t see further than your values. As you do one thing, you do them all, and you get to “be OK” with your surroundings. Just “OK”. You don’t express yourself that often anymore, because there’s no drive, there’s no “why” that pushes you to want more. And step by step, you end up in a robotic life, with doing things without passion, with no real, strong emotion. Nothing sets you on fire anymore. And it wasn’t anything major that triggered this. It was only a small step that slipped and then you got lost.

This is a story that most of us are in. Until you get to properly train your mind to take a detour from this slip, it’s hard to even notice the change, until it escalates to something bigger than you can handle. This is the beauty of our mind: when we get to have it work towards our advantage, that’s when the true magic happens, as you can be on autopilot for the most extraordinary life that you can create for yourself. We simply need to switch the pattern and start using our standards to work for us. Luckily, I have come up with an easy plan. Here’s how:

  1. Check where you are in your life now: Am I happy or not? Condition yourself to answer with a clear, direct answer. No in-between, not right now, when your happiness is at stake.
  2. If you’re happy, please continue what you’re doing now and keep on shining, keep on growing and becoming the best version of yourself.
  3. If you’re not happy, let’s see what’s causing this exactly:
  • Why am I not happy? Use a pen and a piece of paper and start pouring your thoughts, your mind, your heart on that piece of paper. Only stop when you feel that you have emptied everything.
  • How can I be happy again? Continue asking yourself this, on a different piece of paper and let your mind come up with the best solutions.

As you focus on solutions and you give your mind a clear “why”, a strong path to follow, there’s nothing that you can’t achieve. Nothing that you can’t do. Follow your dreams and never stop, never settle and never let fear stand in the way.

You see, your mind = fear. We are designed like this. And it is a blessing. Fear can keep us safe. However, it can also harm us, if we let ourselves be driven by it completely. Learn to follow your authentic truth and create the best life that you can for yourself.
