Values And How To Stop Sabotaging Yourself
Have you ever wondered why you want to avoid doing certain activities, but you still do them? Or why are you drawn to people who do not meet your expectations? Ever had the feeling that you are sabotaging yourself?
Well, you are sabotaging yourself… however, not on purpose. The reason: you are not acting according to your *values*. Let us see first, what are these values?
Values are the reasons why you do… the things that you do, what is important to you, guiding you in your life. See, you have an interior guideline that is your user manual, sometimes not very user friendly, that dictates how your life is shaped. You take decisions, make choices according to what your greatest needs are. Most of the times, if you are not aligned with who you are at the very core and what your decisions look like, you get confused, blocked and you have the feeling of living someone else’s life.
When you discover your values:
- You know who you are exactly
- You never make compromises again
- You are truly clear which are your boundaries and make it clear to everyone around you
- You get to make the best choices for yourself
How can you discover your values, in a simple way, and also, apply this in all your life domains?
It may sound like a complex procedure, but it is a simple question that you need to ask yourself as often as you want and need to, in order to get the clarity that you need:
- What is important to me in my life?
Write down all the answers and acknowledge that you would not expect to get so many… and also, so many things that you originally thought were important to you, but you left them aside completely.
As you analyze the things that you wrote down, notice how your life will look different from now on. As you get more aware of what you need to do in order to stay true to who you are and to your real needs, you will discover how to live in integrity. Being completely honest with yourself is the path to true and lasting happiness.
Is it easy at first? I can only tell you that it takes practice and no matter how difficult the road ahead may seem at first, remember why you started this journey: to become the best version of yourself and to leave fear behind completely.
Fear can be the one holding you back from achieving your potential. It will create distorted movies in your mind about you don’t need to change. You know as well as I that you need this in order to leave the old beliefs behind you for good.
Let me know how this process goes for you and also, what are the new values that you forgot you had?
Here’s to getting your life realigned,
